Needle bearings designate special roller bearings which exhibit a very flat design and thus are similar in shape to needles. These bearings are general oblong, thin cylindrical rollers which take up very little space. Since they are created to economize space, they are frequently utilized in gear units. Needle bearings can be found in various models. These include: Standard models with inner ring or without inner ring, needle cage assemblies, needle bushings and adjustable bearings. All roller bearings are produced in single-row and multiple row designs. The advantages of needle bearings include their increased contact area. The bearings are standardized according to DIN 616, 617 and 618.
